Paul is not presently accepting new clients.
Paul J. Leslie sees clients for psychotherapy and coaching. All sessions must be conducted in person at Dr. Leslie’s office.
Paul’s goal as a therapist is to be a catalyst for the innate healing that exists in his clients. He is passionate about creating a safe and trusting environment where clients can experience and explore all aspects of their lives. He provides counseling for individual adults, and families who desire to effectively create joy and meaning in their lives and let go of the life-patterns that limit them. His approach focuses on finding the inner resources of each client that will enable him or her to live a more satisfying and meaningful life.
In his work he combines open, non-judgmental dialogue with time-tested practical counseling skills and ancient contemplative insights aimed at awakening the innate potential for healing that resides within each person. He avoids viewing people through the lens of pathology labeling or a “disease model.” Paul is more interested in working with clients from a potential perspective rather than a pathology perspective. He focuses on the impact of meaning and significance on a person’s life and how these concepts can assist a person in their individual personal growth.
Every therapy session is unique and catered to the individual and his or her specific goals.
Therapy can be a short-term process, focusing on a specific issue, or longer-term, addressing more complex issues or the client’s ongoing personal growth.
For therapy to be most effective the client must be an active participant, both during and between the sessions. People who obtain the best results from therapy are willing to take responsibility for their actions, work towards self-change and create greater awareness in their lives. Be aware that therapy is not always a quick fix but it can be a lasting one.
Paul’s private practice is not an appropriate resource for emergency crisis intervention. If this is an emergency and you need to speak with someone right away, please call 911 or go to your local hospital emergency room.
Professional ethical standards and laws help guide the relationship between a client and a psychotherapist, and information cannot be disclosed without written permission. Your privacy and confidentiality are very important to me and I work at providing a safe and confidential environment for all my clients. There are only a few exceptions to confidentiality, and these include suspected child abuse, dependent adult or elder abuse; if a client is threatening serious bodily harm to another person(s); and, lastly, if a client intends to harm himself or herself. In any of these situations, we will talk about how we can best ensure everyone’s safety, including notifications (i.e., suspending confidentiality) and actions as required by law in order to help affirm safety.
